There has been a Dental Practice at 854 Wimborne Road since 1967.
Richard Hull, the current owner and principal dentist qualified at the University of Dundee in 1989 and bought 854 Dental Health in July 1999. Initially we developed the facilities on the ground floor of this attractive Victorian building. In spring 2013 we refurbished the first floor with new equipment in the dental surgery, a brand new hygiene surgery, waiting room and decontamination suite which can now be viewed by our patients through a glass wall.
854 Dental Health provides private dentistry in a relaxed and informative manner. We also offer the option of Denplan monthly payment plans and will be happy to give you further information if this is of interest to you.
We use digital radiography and photography to aid diagnosis, the images are also invaluable tools for discussion with patients and for illustrating the results of our care.
We welcomed Kevin Durrant to 854 in January 2021 as our Associate. Kevin qualified from Bristol University in 1987 and has worked locally for over 30 years. Kevin also has a Masters Degree in Clinical Dentistry from Kings College, London.
Richard particularly enjoys preventative and periodontal dentistry and Kevin is very interested in aesthetic and restorative dentistry. They both however provide all aspects of general dentistry and have longstanding links to local specialists for those services that we do not provide in-house.
Victoria Baxter-Fox is our dental hygienist/therapist, she supports our dentists’ care with professional dental cleaning, this enables our patients to better maintain their own dental health between visits and hopefully reduces the need for treatment.
We also have four qualified dental nurses, Helen Dailey, Tracy Dargan, Laura Dixon and Michelle Dixon. Between them our nurses provide essential assistance both chair-side and behind the scenes to ensure that all treatment is provided to our patients in the safest possible environment. Tracy is also a qualified Oral Health Educator.
There is mounting evidence that an unhealthy mouth can lead to an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and other inflammatory diseases. There is therefore more incentive than ever to achieve and maintain healthy teeth and gums.
Our receptionist Sharon provides valuable administrative support for the business and for Helen who is also the Practice Manager.
Collectively we have over 100 years of general dental practice experience.
All visits to the practice are by appointment however we would always try to see our patients on the same day if they are experiencing pain.
We occupy two floors at 854 Dental Health but we can arrange for all appointments to be carried out on the ground floor, which has easy wheelchair access.
We have toilet facilities on both floors but we do not have a designated disabled toilet.
